Small steps, big difference
Our sustainability ambitions – Net-Zero by 2040
Climate change has been one of society’s greatest challenges for years. Solving it requires all of us to act with urgency. As a leader in providing analytical systems and services, we at Malvern Panalytical are committed to reducing our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions – and by doing so, we will mobilize the entire value chain, work with our customers and suppliers and inspire you to take collective action.
We are committed to achieving net-zero in our own operations by 2030 and across our value chain (suppliers and customers) by 2040. But what does net-zero mean?
Put simply, net-zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. We reach net zero when the amount we add is no more than the amount taken away.
Sustainable supply chain sourcing
To achieve our net-zero ambitions, we will work with our suppliers to help them improve their input materials, production processes, and logistics. To audit, all suppliers on this take a lot of work. So, like ourselves, a great many of our global customers use a company called EcoVadis to audit their suppliers. “EcoVadis helps you manage your network both upstream and downstream, either by sharing your performance with your stakeholders or monitoring the performance of your own upstream value chain.1 The EcoVadis audit involves the completion of a large audit form and submission of evidence. Talking about goals: scoring criteria are strict and only 7% of the thousands of companies audited score over 65.
Characterization solutions to unlock sustainability
At the other end of the value chain, we will also work with customers to help them achieve their own sustainability goals. Our customers must not only ensure that their materials are sustainable, but they must also ensure that they operate in a sustainable way. At Malvern Panalytical, we offer several analytical solutions to help almost any industry go one step further whether that is by improving their (input) materials or production processes.

Starting with the man in the mirror ♫
But we must first lead by example. There are things that each of us can do – turn out the lights when we leave a room, ride a bike to work instead of driving (where possible), report a leaky faucet at work… Small things that can make a big difference. It’s only by taking actions that can be measured that we can convince others to do the same. And it’s only together, taking small steps, that we will make a big difference for future generations.
