Konnichiwa Malvern Instruments Japan
In October last year industrial sales and support activities for Malvern and Sysmex Corporation industrial particle characterization systems transferred to Malvern Japan and I would like to take this opportunity to extend my personal gratitude to the whole Sysmex team, for their hard work towards making this exchange of responsibilities run so smoothly. The entire process was a testament to their corporate philosophy to demonstrate both individual competence and unsurpassed teamwork with passion and flexibility.
Words from the President and CEO of Sysmex Corporation
During the transfer ceremony on 1 October, Hisashi Ietsugu, President and CEO of Sysmex Corporation said: “The transfer of the Malvern and Sysmex industrial particle characterization business to Malvern Japan is a logical step in the development of our longstanding and successful relationship, in order to exploit synergies between products and markets. At the same time we are happy to have concluded a distribution agreement with Malvern for the Sysmex FPIA instrument, both inside and outside Japan, which we expect will enable us to further build on our success. While we will continue to collaborate in the industrial particle characterization area, we hope that opportunities will arise for the joint development of exciting new products in the bioscience field.”
Destination Japan
As Malvern’s marketing manager, I am lucky enough to travel quite a bit and I must say that Japan is a top destination. There is nothing quite like stepping off the plane and realising that you are on the other side of the planet. The legendary punctuality of Japanese trains takes some getting used to. In my last visit an apology was issued because the train I was on arrived 30 seconds late!
Malvern Instruments Japan was established in February 2003 to manage Malvern’s process business in the region. Based in Kobe, in the Hyogo Prefecture, Malvern Japan has the advantage of being located in what is often described as one of the most attractive of Japan’s ten largest cities. Part of Keihanshin area along with Osaka and Kyoto, the city is located in the Kansai region between the sea and the Rokko mountain range. Kobe is a prominent port city with a population of about 1.5 million.
I would recommend a visit to anyone!
