Analysis of Au and Ag on activated carbon

This application note demonstrates that the Epsilon 5, a high performance energy dispersive XRF spectrometer, is well suited to quantify Ag and Au on activated carbons from ore-metal recovery processes because it can provide fast and reliable results with little sample preparation.

A common activity of precious metal ore processing is the analysis of the Au and Ag concentrations on activated carbon. This is a critical measure of the efficiency of the carbon in pulp and carbon in leach processes and is typically performed by fire assay. A very labor-intensive process, fire assay takes significant time to provide critical feedback to ore processing engineers. Epsilon 5 is ideally suited for this application.
