The Masterclass 1: Laser Diffraction Explained
This webinar will introduce the basic principles behind the technique, explaining how a laser diffraction measurement is carried out, how particle size distributions are calculated, some of the differences which exist between laser diffraction and other techniques for particle size analysis, and example applications of laser diffraction.
The importance of size reduction and agglomeration processes in the mining, minerals, and metals (MMM) industries
Size reduction and agglomeration are two of the important chemical engineering unit operations. We will deal with the release of valuable material from gangue by the comminution process explaining the theories relating to the energy expended. We will also deal with powder metallurgy and the production of sintered metal products.
Columns and Standards: How to make the appropriate choice for your GPC/SEC application
With a variety of columns and standards to choose from, selecting the correct column set and standards for your GPC/SEC application can be challenging.
Nanotechnology and oncology
One of the great hopes for nanotechnology is in the treatment of cancer. We will look at some of the programs and technologies being explored and the importance of nanotechnology in this area.
IIT and Malvern Instruments: Partners in the innovation of compact, energy efficient milling solutions
This webinar details the installation, commissioning and test work to be carried out in the forthcoming process integration of a Malvern Insitec in the milling and classification plant at IIT in Gateshead.
Introducing Archimedes, Particle Metrology system
Archimedes harnesses the technique of resonant mass measurement to provide new insights into particles in the size range 50nm – 5μm. With simple yet powerful technology, driven by MEMS-fabricated sensors, Archimedes is able to detect and count particles, and measure their mass and size.
The Dynamic Light Scattering & Available New Features with Zetasizer Instrumentation
This is an introductory lecture to provide an overview of the Zetasizer Family of instrumentation including the new Zetasizer ZSP, Zetasizer Nano, Zetasizer µV and Zetasizer APS.
The Meaning of the Cross-Over Modulus
A frequency sweep on a rheometer records the viscoelastic spectrum of a material – effectively a ‘fingerprint’ of behaviour over different timescales. The frequency where the storage (elastic) G’ and loss (viscous ) G” moduli are equal (or cross-over) defines the beginning of the rubbery plateau region. From a structural perspective, the plateau region is most important in studies of molecular interactions.
