In the present study we demonstrate XRF capabilities in the analysis of galvanized steel for the determination of thickness and composition of Zn coatings using Stratos.
Stratos is a thin film metrology software used in the semiconductor industry. An application of Stratos is the analysis of Zn coating thickness on steel, also known as galvanized steel. Metal coatings deposited as single or multilayers are widely used in the automotive industry to increase the corrosion resistance properties of steel. Accurately monitoring both thickness and composition of the coatings can lead to significant cost savings and contribute to process optimization of the coating line.
